25 November 2007

A rare showing of Me Without You on BBC1 this week, 23:35 on Tuesday.

Pushing Daisies should appear on ITV later in the autumn schedules and is currently at episode 7 in the US.  Links to downloads of each episode can be found here as they become available.

Anna is also scheduled to film the final part of the Goal! trilogy, and has been signed to star alongside John Hurt and Helen Mirren in Angel Makers, a movie about the women of a Yorkshire farming community in WWI who turn murderous when their men return from the trenches to discover their places on the farms and in their beds have been taken by German POW's.

My money's on yet another straight to video offering there, a path Bathory is looking more and more like following.

Goal2 is still on forever on SKY Box Office this month.

Goal2 is on forever on SKY Box Office this month.

28 July 2007

The feelgood buzz surrounding Pushing Daisies continues apace with all reviewers tipping it as a major hit.

The internet being the internet, the as-yet untransmitted full pilot episode has been around now for about 10 days online.  See the videos page for more . . .

You're only 31 once as they say, so it's got to be worth a passing mention I suppose.  Happy birthday kidda!

23 June 2007

Pushing Daisies certainly has the look and feel of a winning series.  If this review is anything to base a prediction on, Anna may actually be involved in a rare commercial success.  Des may even have update the official site shock horror.  Then again no rush, it's only been 3 or 4 years this time!

15 June 2007

Pushing Daisies has been picked up by ITV1 for UK transmission later in the year.

11 June 2007

Thanks to Sophie for the latest pix of Anna from this weekend's Isle of Wight festival.  Anna, if you want to meet up I'll be at Beautiful Days again later in the summer!

The episode of Cadfael featuring Anna can be seen on ITV3 this coming Saturday (16th) at 12:05, while Goal! gets four more airings between the 20th June and the 29th July on Sky Movies Family.

Anna has landed a leading role in a new 13-part abc series launching in the autumn called Pushing Daisies.  Click here for a video preview.

Herewith the blurb, bereft for some reason of any reference to our lass, who plays the "childhood sweetheart" of the hero . . .

Once upon a time, Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black, Get Shorty, The Addams Family) and Writer-Producer Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me) created an unprecedented blend of romance, crime procedural and high-concept fantasy. It is a love story about a young man with a very special gift…the ability to return someone dead briefly back to life with just a simple touch.

Ned, a mild-mannered baker of fabulous pies, discovered his gift as a child. Now he puts his gift to good use, working with his only friend, a private investigator, to crack murder cases by asking victims to name their killers. But the tale gets complicated, as all tales do, when he saves his childhood sweetheart and she miraculously stays alive. Each week, she encourages him to use his powers to solve mysteries and help others. Life would be perfect, except for one cruel twist: if Ned ever touches her again, she'll lose the life he gave her, for good this time. There's always a catch…

Golden Globe-nominee Lee Pace (The Good Shepherd, Soldier's Girl), Chi McBride (The Nine, Boston Public), Golden Globe-nominee Swoosie Kurtz (Huff, Sisters) and Tony Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth (The West Wing, Broadway's Wicked) star in a fairytale in the spirit of Amelie, Stranger than Fiction, and Chocolat. From the producers of Big Fish comes an equally magical and delightful series that offers a weekly dose of sweet, heartwarming, quirky fun.

01 May 2007

A distinct absence of Anna on UK TV screens this month.  As in, nothing at all other than the continued reruns of Goal on Sky Family.

01 April 2007

A distinct absence of Anna on UK TV screens this month.  As in, nothing at all!

However, news reached me a few weeks back that a US firm had released The Tribe on DVD.  I've acquired a copy and yes it's true.  It's only available as an imported Region 1 (US market only) disc, so it will not playback on your DVD-ROM drive or home dvd player if either are restricted to Region 2 discs only.

My own PAL copy is still available for those of you in that situation; otherwise you should find the disc is available via online retailers and from a wide variety of outlets in the USA.

Anna has apparently been bestowed with the title of the UK's hottest mom.  This PA article appeared on several web sites over the weekend:-

Actress Anna Friel has been crowned the UK’s yummiest mummy.  The former Brookside star topped a poll of more than 1,000 men.

Friel, 30, is mum to 20-month-old daughter Gracie.  She shed her baby weight in just three months so she could shoot sex scenes for a film.

Victoria Beckham was voted second in the survey by online men’s magazine Lycos XY.  Pop star Jamelia was third, followed by supermodel Heidi Klum.  Angelina Jolie was fifth, Donna Air sixth and Gwen Stefani seventh.  Liz Hurley, who recently wed Arun Nayar with four-year-old son Damian as pageboy, was eighth.  DJ Sara Cox and Big Brother host Davina McCall completed the list.  But supermodel Kate Moss was far behind with just 1% of the vote.

The survey proves men want women to be glamorous even when they have kids in tow.

A magazine spokesman said: “It’s great to see successful, beautiful women flying the flag for mums everywhere.  The glamorous world of celebrity is a long way removed from the lives of most of us, but perhaps that’s why we love these career-and-child-juggling women so much.”

Top 10 Yummy Mummies

1 Anna Friel
2 Victoria Beckham
3 Jamelia

4 Heidi Klum
5 Angelina Jolie
6 Donna Air
7 Gwen Stefani
8 Liz Hurley
9 Sara Cox
10 Davina McCall

Just another outing for The Land Girls on Monday 5th at 18:50 on Film4 this month.

21 January 2007

With the release next month of Goal2 there may be a few interviews and pics appearing as the publicity machines grind out another one.  See today's Mail on Sunday for example.  Good to see that the Friel Good Factor headline still does it for today's generation of hacks.

Want to to see the movie?  Really!?  From 9th Feb at you local fleapit.

01 January 2007

Happy New Year!

If you missed it last month, 9 airings of Goal! on SKY Movies are this month's only TV offerings for UK devotees.  For US fans, Perfect Strangers is on Oxygen on the 3rd.
